Legal Counsel P&C & L&H Reinsurance (80-100%, Hybrid)
About the Role
The Legal Counsel role in the Legal P&C & L&H Reinsurance Advisory EMEA team is a legal partner role to the P&C & L&H business units in EMEA, with a strong focus on enabling and successful completion of reinsurance business initiatives as well as on ensuring proper governance and compliance with external and internal requirements. The geographical scope of the role is wide, with a primary focus on France, but it can also cover any jurisdiction in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Therefore, you should demonstrate a proven ability to adapt to various legal systems and cultures.
About You
You will be expected to be a trusted partner to clients across the organisation by providing timely, high quality legal advice and clearly articulating legal risks and opportunities. You should be able to operate with ambiguity and to apply creative thinking.
Key responsibilities:
- Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of legal documents
- Advise on local regulatory and general legal matters (incl. operations advisory, corporate governance and employment law support) as well as support legal aspects of Compliance matters e.g. Data Protection and Market Conduct
- Manage legal aspects of projects and strategic initiatives within the EMEA region (e.g. changes in operational footprint)
- Develop templates, policies and processes and participate in projects to improve processes and efficiency
- Monitor and report on developments and trends in laws and regulations
- Prepare presentations and legal reports, conduct training
- Coordinate and optimize engagement and use of outside legal counsel

An ideal candidate is a dedicated and trusted business partner who manages relationships and communicates legal and compliance concepts clearly and succinctly. Essentials:
- Are a fully qualified lawyer (bar exam) in (preferred) France or any other EU jurisdiction, or equivalent
- Have a minimum of five years post qualification experience, preferably in a law firm or in-house in the (re)insurance industry; experience in (re)insurance law, and regulations
- Have experience and understanding of regulatory and licensing topics in cross-border scenarios
- Possess excellent drafting, negotiation and influencing skills and can manage legal and compliance related matters
- Speak and write in French and English fluently; other languages are a plus

For France, the base salary range for this position is between 72,000 EUR and 108,000 EUR for a full-time role.

• the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,
• the applicant's own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience. In the situation where you do not meet all the requirements or you significantly exceed these, the offered salary may be below or above the advertised range.
• In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for additional rewards and benefits including an attractive performance-based annual bonus.
