Process / Flow Assurance Engineer

The Process / Flow Assurance Engineer is responsible for managing and coordinating process and flow assurance engineering activities within brownfield offshore oil and gas projects. The role ensures safe, optimized, and cost-effective engineering design aligned with project specifications, company standards, schedule requirements, and operational objectives. The engineer works closely with EPC contractors, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams to support offshore production facilities, including FPSO and subsea systems.

Key Responsibilities

Promote and maintain a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with HSEQ standards, company ethics, and engineering best practices.
Ensure process and flow assurance engineering activities comply with company specifications, contractual requirements, and local regulations.
Review and coordinate engineering deliverables such as process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), process calculations, simulations, basis of design documents, and flow assurance studies.
Participate in technical reviews, including HAZOP and HAZID studies, and contribute to the resolution of technical action items.
Identify risks, deviations, and optimization opportunities to improve project performance, operability, and cost efficiency while maintaining safety and quality standards.
Support EPC contractors by reviewing technical queries, derogations, and engineering documentation, coordinating with headquarters when approvals are required.
Work collaboratively with other discipline leaders to optimize process design for offshore installation, SIMOPS operations, and brownfield integration activities.
Support project handover by consolidating engineering studies and models for field operations teams.

Project Environment
The role operates within brownfield offshore oil and gas projects, where activities are executed in live production environments, often in SIMOPS conditions involving FPSOs, subsea systems, offshore modifications, and multiple contractor interfaces. The engineer must manage technical complexity, operational risks, and coordination between field operations, contractors, and internal teams.

Qualifications and Experience

Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or Flow Assurance Engineering.
Minimum 10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, preferably in offshore engineering and operations.
Experience with FPSO and brownfield projects is preferred.
Strong technical background in process engineering, flow assurance, subsea systems, production, and start-up operations.
Strong coordination, communication, and leadership skills.
English is mandatory; Portuguese or French is considered an advantage.
