Spore.Bio is a deeptech start-up born in 2023, building a new paradigm in the quality control systems in Food&Beverage, Cosmetics, and Pharmaceutics factories.

After spending a lot of time in factories environments, we saw the pain it was to make sure products were safe. Traditional quality control has heavy constraints and long waiting times. To change that, we decided to build Spore.Bio, a new generation of microbiological testing.

Our team is dedicated to bringing technology and developing a cutting-edge solution, based on advanced optical and deep-learning technologies, to detect bacterial contamination within seconds.

About the role

• Drive innovation by proposing new ideas to enhance and optimize model performance.
• Develop and implement advanced methods in image generation and unsupervised learning.
• Stay ahead of the curve by continuously engaging with the latest research in computer vision and deep learning.
• Contribute to a high-impact, multidisciplinary project combining machine learning, microbiology, and photonics to revolutionize microbiology quality control

About you

Required qualifications/ experience :

We value curiosity, initiative, and a growth mindset — not every box needs to be ticked to apply.

• Education & Background: PhD, Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering , or a related field
• Experience (professional or academic) in Computer Vision and/or Deep Learning
• M inimum 7 years of professional experience

Technical Skills:

• Solid bibliographic knowledge with the ability to identify, analyze, and apply cutting-edge research.
• Hands-on experience with PyTorch for building and deploying deep learning models.
• Practical experience in at least one key domain: semantic segmentation, image generation, or unsupervised learning.
• Strong coding fundamentals and clean code practices

Soft Skills & Mindset

• Ability to navigate and contribute in multi-disciplinary environments, including client-facing or cross-functional discussions
• Proactive, execution-oriented mindset — you take ownership and make things happen

• 30-min call with the Hiring Manager
• 45-min personality interview with two team members
• A 1 hour technical case study followed by a debrief with team members
• 1 hour Founders interview
• Reference calls
