Senior Accountant

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to ensure accuracy, transparency, and compliance of all financial operations across our European entities. As part of a team located in Paris, you’ll go beyond numbers, partnering with cross-functional teams and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement in a dynamic and collaborative work environment. You will support the accounting team by handling recurring tasks while leveraging their expertise to streamline processes, drive efficiency, and contribute to long-term transformation and added value for the company. This continuous improvement mindset will be the key differentiator for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Accounting operations

  • Ensure the integrity of accounting workflows by recording, verifying, consolidating, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies
  • Contribute to the month-end and year-end close process in close collaboration with the controlling team
  • Manage day-to-day accounting activities, including general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and journal postings
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate processing
  • Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules
  • Ensure accurate booking of accruals, provisions, and intercompany transactions
  • Monitor and reconcile bank account, credit card, and investment accounts
  • Analyze financial information and provide support for strategic decision-making

2. Invoicing and billing operations

  • Prepare and issue customer invoices in coordination with operational and commercial teams
  • Monitor billing schedules and ensure timely invoicing in line with contractual terms
  • Reconcile billing data with accounting records and resolve discrepancies
  • Support the implementation and improvement of automated billing processes in SAP Business One
  • Respond to customer queries related to invoices and coordinate with relevant departments for resolution

3. Compliance and audit

  • Ensure compliance with local generally accepted accounting principles, IFRS, and internal accounting policies
  • Maintain accurate and complete accounting documentation
  • Support external/internal audit processes by providing accurate and complete financial information, facilitating auditors' access to accounting records, and responding to their inquiries
  • Prepare tax filings, VAT declarations, and other regulatory submissions in coordination with tax advisors

4. Process improvements and systems

  • Recommend and implement best practices, accounting policies, and contribute to a learning-oriented environment
  • Develop, document, and implement improvements to accounting business processes to strengthen reporting practices and internal controls
  • Support SAP Business One integration, leverage technology to automate routine tasks and financial workflows

5. Team Collaboration and Leadership

  • Liaise with the Financial Controlling department to ensure consistency between accounting entries and financial reporting
  • Provide guidance and support to junior accountants and finance team members
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Risk, Operations, IT) on financial matters
  • Participate in strategic financial planning and decision-making processes
  • Provide accounting support for new business initiatives, regulatory changes, and cross-border transactions
  • Support the CFO and leadership with ad hoc analysis and reporting needs

Key Requirements:

Hard Skills:

- In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

- Strong business acumen, understanding the broader impact of accounting decisions on the company

- Proven experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process

- Analytical mindset with attention to detail and a passion for problem-solving and continuous learning

- Tech- savviness comfortable with ERP systems (SAP Business One would be a plus), digital tools and advanced Excel skills required

Language Skills:

- Fluent English (written and verbal)

- French or German would be a plus

Education and Experience:

- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CMA (Certified Management Accountant)

- At least 5 years of experience in similar accounting or finance roles

Location:

Your work location will preferably be Paris, with no specific restriction amongst other EPEX office locations and an attractive hybrid work policy.
