Our mission is simple: to do more with what we already have.Are you ready to join us?About the teamWe are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Circularity Order Lifecycle squad.We're the team behind Back Market's Trade-in program, the system that lets customers exchange their old devices for cash toward their next refurbished purchase. It's a win-win-win: customers get more purchasing power, refurbishers get quality supply, and the planet gets a break from unnecessary e-waste.To achieve this, our team is made up of seven engineers, an engineering manager and a product manager collaborating closely with designers, data analysts, operations and business partners.Join us and help build the features that make it easier for customers and refurbishers to complete successful trade-in journeys.As a Software Engineer, you will work closely with all members of your squad, and the Staff engineer of your group. Bi-monthly rituals with your group and the Chapter will allow you to share what works for your squad, learn what works for others, and make sure your technical direction is aligned with the overall vision.What you will do in this roleWe’re looking for versatile engineers who show strong ownership and are motivated to take on new challenges across the technical stack while helping us move our technology forward.You will be working in an agile "build it and run it" environment where engineering teams build, launch, monitor and support the product that they own. This transition provides an opportunity to modernize the platform, raising engineering standards.Building a set of efficient and loosely coupled services is one of the main challenges to face for the years to come. But teams are excited to independently control their release schedules, manage their data, SLAs, tools, and – ultimately – be responsible for their own service-offering. Meanwhile, Platform teams are working to provide a scalable, consistent and secure platform, one that makes engineering teams more productive.As a Senior Engineer: Produce, Innovate & ShareFacilitates meaningful discussions around complex issues.Suggests or makes improvements for existing designs and architecture for quarter-bounded projects or mission-critical areas in their squad.Explores technologies with sizable potential impact for the team.Is able to contribute actively to high impact chaos mitigation.Identifies and advocate for prioritization of tasks that can optimize deliveryRequired Skills and Experience5+ years of backend engineering experience with strong proficiency in Go (primary requirement) and proven experience with PythonSolid understanding of microservices architecture, with experience building and maintaining high-traffic backend services and regular feature deliveryWorking knowledge of modern web frontend technologies (Vue.js, React, or similar) with comfort in JavaScript/TypeScript for full-stack contributionDemonstrated ability to deliver high-quality, non-disruptive production releases with strong SDLC knowledge and comprehensive testing experienceExperience building observability systems (monitoring, alerting, tracing) and using data to drive improvements, with incident management and on-call experienceStrong knowledge of databases (PostgreSQL, Redis) and message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ), with expertise in API design (REST, GraphQL)Demonstrated pragmatism in technical decision-making, able to challenge approaches diplomatically and question task legitimacy when appropriateExcellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences in cross-functional teamsProven ability to work autonomously within squad scope, managing deliverables while contributing to team knowledge through documentation and code reviewsRecruitment processCall with a Senior Tech TA, 45 minCoding and Testing module, 60 minSystem design Feature interview, 45 minData module, 45 minTechnical Leadership, 45 minMeet your manager, 30 minBack Market Values fit interview - 45 minHybrid policy - Paris office3 days /week at the office - Monday is mandatoryWHY SHOULD YOU JOIN US ?
