Legal Counsel - Corporate Solutions Legal EMEA (Hybrid, m/f/x/d)

Are you a commercially minded legal professional looking to make a real impact in a dynamic, international insurance business?
We are seeking a talented Legal Counsel to join our Corporate Solutions Legal EMEA team, supporting Swiss Re's fast-paced commercial insurance business. Based in either Paris or Luxembourg, this role will give you the opportunity to play a key role in complex insurance transactions and contribute to innovative legal solutions across a diverse range of regulatory and strategic matters.
This position reports directly to the Head Legal EMEA for Corporate Solutions.

As a Legal Counsel, you will be a trusted legal partner for the Corporate Solutions business enabling regional business growth while providing legal and regulatory advice to underwriters and business leaders within Corporate Solutions' EMEA region. You have the opportunity to
• analyse and advise on complex regulatory and novel legal issues
• draft, negotiate and advise on insurance policies, reinsurance agreements, and other transactional documents (eg collateral agreements)
• support the design and implementation of international insurance programs, fronting solutions and tailored transactions for corporate clients, including alternative risk transfers
• serve as a trusted legal advisor and initial point of contact for Corporate Solutions businesses, notably for all legal and regulatory aspects related to France with the option to assume responsibility for additional jurisdictions in Europe
• act as lead legal advisor on complex cross-border insurance and reinsurance transactions and handle regional legal issues and developments
• Provide legal support in the negotiation and structuring of distribution agreements and engage with brokers and other intermediaries to ensure regulatory compliance and alignment with Swiss Re's commercial objectives
• Collaborate with colleagues across functions – including Compliance, Underwriting, Risk, Finance, and Operations – for a holistic legal approach
• Stay abreast of legal trends and evolving regulatory frameworks in Europe and contribute to internal knowledge sharing, training, and legal process improvement

You’ll be part of a supportive and collegial legal team of ten lawyers situated across Europe and embedded in Swiss Re Corporate Solutions’ EMEA business. We work closely with decision-makers, supporting both day-to-day matters and transformative strategic initiatives.

We are looking for someone who thrives in an international and agile environment, with a problem-solving mindset and the ability to balance legal precision with commercial pragmatism.
You will bring:
• Bar admission in a European jurisdiction (preferably France)
• At least 6+ years of post-bar admission experience in a law firm or in-house environment in insurance
• Experience in advising on international insurance/reinsurance, risk transfer and insurance regulatory matters
• Familiarity with insurance law and regulation in the EU and France – experience in additional jurisdictions is a plus
• A collaborative spirit, strong team player abilities and distinct communication skills to work across geographies and disciplines
• Business fluency in English and French required; additional languages (e.g. Spanish) a strong advantage
• Sound judgment and proven experience to advise clients in unique circumstances, clearly and concisely summarizing complex issues for senior leaders
• Display a "can do" mindset, dedicated to learning and developing new skills and prepared to go the extra mile.

For France, the base salary range for this position is between 72,000 EUR and 108,000 EUR for a full-time role.

• the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,
• the applicant's own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience. In the situation where you do not meet all the requirements or you significantly exceed these, the offered salary may be below or above the advertised range.
• In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for additional rewards and benefits including an attractive performance-based annual bonus.
