Position details

• Location: Paris (75008), France
• Reports to: CTO
• Position objective: We're looking for a hands-on IT Systems & Cloud Infrastructure Engineer who will serve as the backbone of our technical operations. This is a mission-critical role at the intersection of internal IT excellence and secure cloud architecture. You will ensure our infrastructure is resilient, compliant, sovereign, and built for high-security defense environment while scaling with the company’s growth.

Role & Mission

At Alta Ares, we are building the future of defense technology. As we scale, we require a hands-on IT Systems & Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to serve as the backbone of our technical operations. You will bridge the gap between internal IT excellence and robust cloud architecture, ensuring our data remains secure, compliant, and highly available. In this role, you aren't just managing systems; you are safeguarding operational integrity and ensuring data sovereignty in a high-security, mission-critical environment.

Internal IT & Infrastructure Management

• Hardware & Networking: End-to-end management of workstations, servers, embedded devices, and networking equipment.
• Network Security: Implement and maintain VPNs, firewalls, and rigorous access rules to protect sensitive defense data.
• Lifecycle Management: Oversee software licensing and hardware procurement as the team scales.

• On premises infrastructure: Management of local storage NAS and Raspberry PI and NVidia development clusters and test benches.
  

Cloud Operations & Data Governance

• GCP Ecosystem: Manage and optimize Google Cloud Platform resources, specifically VM instances, Cloud SQL, and GCS.
• Identity & Access (IAM): Design and enforce strict user provisioning and permission hierarchies via IAM and Directory Management.

• Modern Deployment: Maintain and scale containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes (K8s).

Requirements

Candidate profile

• Advanced GCP Knowledge: Proven experience managing Google Cloud infrastructure with a heavy focus on security.
• Identity Provisioning: Expert-level understanding of IAM, SSO, and Directory Management for secure user lifecycle handling.
• DevOps Foundations: Proficiency in Docker and Kubernetes for orchestration.
• Systems Administration: Deep experience in Linux/Unix environments, VM management, and hardware configuration.
• Languages: Professional-level fluency in French and English.

Nice to Have

• Sovereign Cloud Experience: Familiarity with European providers (e.g., Scaleway, OVHcloud) and data residency requirements for sensitive French/EU data.
• Geopolitically Minded: Openness to travel to Kyiv, Ukraine, is a significant plus.
• Language Skills: Proficiency in Ukrainian is a major asset.
