Job Scope & Responsabilities :

To accelerate the development of new science-based technologies in a strategic sector, EssilorLuxottica is strengthening its expertise in biochemistry and neuroscience. As part of a joint team composed of academics and EssilorLuxottica, this position aims to investigate, primarily through designing experiments, data collection and analysis, the biochemical and neural mechanisms in the retina that are involved in myopia control. More specifically, the goal is to study the dynamics of biological processes that regulate eye growth, including signal detection, transmission, and associated signaling cascades. The position requires a detailed understanding of the biochemical and physical phenomena at stake at the sub-cellular level. The protocols and experimental techniques will be developed with experts from cross-disciplinary domains. 

• A- To contribute to innovation by managing a research program

• Formulate biological questions underlying eye growth.

• Build a methodology including sensory inputs, neural dynamics, biochemical signalling and genetic pathways, with particular focus on visual and retinal processing in collaboration with academic partners.

• Develop and evaluate mechanistic, statistical and machine-learning models to test hypotheses on animal or human clinical data.

• Provide recommendations for improving myopia-control strategies.

• Define research plans, milestones and scientific deliverables; take ownership of projects.

• B- To communicate findings and support innovation

• Prepare internal reports, conference contributions and peer-reviewed publications.

• Strengthen product credibility and intellectual property positions by capitalizing on the potential value of our discoveries.

Candidate Profile :

• Postdoctoral in quantitative biology, computational neuroscience, or a related discipline .

• A research record demonstrating original contributions in quantitative science through publications, software or other substantive scientific outputs.

• Experience in acquiring and analysing noisy biological data.

• Programming (preferably in Python).

• Biochemistry, neuroscience, data analysis, machine learning.

Technical Skills :

• Biochemistry, neuroscience, data analysis, machine learning.

• Biomedical research, problem solving skills, application oriented.

• Ability to connect quantitative models to biological mechanisms and experimental observations.

• Ability to collaborate across areas of expertise, communicate clearly, and produce research that is relevant to an industrial R&D programme.
