Join us as Legal AI Engineer to co-build Qonto's vision of an "Augmented Legal Department" - a future where AI and humans work side by side to scale legal capacity across Europe. You'll design and ship the agents, tools, and operating model that will redefine how our Legal team works, working in close partnership with Alexia, our General Counsel at Qonto.
What you'll do

• Co-create the "Augmented Legal" vision for 2028/2030: You'll work side-by-side with Alexia to map Legal's workflows, identify what's agentizable, and define the target state; who does what, how, and at what scale.
• Build and ship production-ready AI agents: From prototyping to deployment and maintenance, you'll own the full lifecycle of agents that genuinely transform Legal's day-to-day, not just demos, but reliable tools people actually use.
• Design the humans + agents operating model: You'll set the governance framework; who owns which agents, quality standards, access rules, adoption rituals, and prepare the team to scale.
• Drive adoption across the Legal team: You'll run demos, design training, and build feedback loops so every Qontoer understands, trusts, and uses what you build.
• Use AI natively in how you work: From scoping to code, you'll use tools like Claude, Cursor, and whatever's next to build faster and smarter.

What we're looking for

• Strong software engineering fundamentals: You've shipped production software end-to-end and take ownership from problem framing to delivery.
• Practical AI/LLM engineering mindset: You've built agents or AI-powered systems before; you understand orchestration, evaluation, reliability, and the difference between a promising prototype and something that holds up.
• Product thinking: You don't wait to be handed a spec, you define the problem, shape the roadmap, and iterate based on real user feedback.
• High autonomy and entrepreneurial mindset: You're comfortable with ambiguity, own your decisions end-to-end, and don't need tight guardrails to do great work.
• Stakeholder management in cross-functional environments: You can earn the trust of legal professionals, engineers, and leadership alike - and communicate clearly across all of them.

Your future manager

Your future manager will be Alexia, our General Counsel. She spent 10 years at international law firms across Paris, Tokyo, and London, focused on Corporate M&A, before joining Qonto as General Counsel to build the Legal team from scratch. She now leads a 20-person team across France, Italy, Spain, and Germany. Known for scaling legal functions and driving legal tech adoption, she'll give you real exposure to high-impact projects while supporting your development. Several of her talks are available online.
