Liquidity Manager (f/m/d)

Being part of HSBC in continental Europe, and based in our continental European headquarters in Paris, you’ll help evolve and grow our business and support the safeguarding of the HSBC entity in continental Europe.

What you will do:

We are seeking a high-potential, ambitious individual to join the HBCE Liquidity team as a Liquidity Manager, based in Paris, France, with a hybrid working pattern.

In this role you will be responsible for managing the transfer pricing policy of the entity and overseeing the effective implementation of that policy.

You will also support the wider team in many other aspects of bank liquidity management, from effective identification and stress testing of liquidity risks and identification of recovery actions to mitigate those risks, through to advising senior management on opportunities to optimising the balance sheet and enhance returns for both the entity and the wider HSBC Group. 

This is a junior role in the team and an interesting opportunity for future talent to develop into broader, more senior roles within Liquidity or the wider Treasury department.

In this role you will:  

• Be responsible for managing the HBCE transfer pricing policy and overseeing the effective implementation of this policy across the HSBC Continental Europe entity, working closely with reporting teams in India, with Business Finance, Tax and with the business/product lines on both forecasts and reporting of actuals.
• Support the preparation and refinement of papers and presentations for governance forums, including the Asset & Liability Committee (ALCO). This will include making recommendations on transfer pricing policy topics following engagement with stakeholders across the entity.
• Support the wider Liquidity team’s overall deliverables, notably contributing to liquidity stress testing and analysis to support the Internal Liquidity Adequacy Assessment Process (ILAAP) for the entity and the drafting of committee papers on related topics.
• Support the team in working closely with business / product line stakeholders to understand the full product range and stress test underlying risks under a range of different liquidity stress scenarios across the stress continuum.
• Support the team in proposing the calibration of limits to manage certain risks more closely (e.g. intraday liquidity risks, currency risks, concentration risks etc), and establish appropriate management information for the tracking of actuals against those limits.
• Whilst you will become familiar and oversee aspects of the regulatory liquidity metrics such as the Liquidity Coverage Ratio (LCR) and Net Stable Funding Ratio (NSFR), this role is not a process-driven / operational reporting role.

Excellent analytical and communication skills, combined with a curiosity to learn and an ambition to grow.

In particular:

• Strong analytical capability : comfortable working with large sets of complex data and producing structured, defensible conclusions.

• Strong communication skills (English), written and verbal: The ability to synthesize complex analysis into clear and concise committee-ready materials. (All written documentation is produced in English). You will need to clearly communicate outputs to a range of different, senior stakeholders both within and outside of Treasury.

• Curious, self-starting mindset with a strong interest in how Treasury and the wider bank operate. Keen to understand the client product portfolio and to analyse underlying liquidity risks, including how they may evolve under different stress scenarios.

• Ability to work effectively within a virtual/matrixed team , building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships with both risk and commercial (business / product line) colleagues.
• Ambition and potential for growth : We are looking for a talented individual who has the aspiration to grow into more senior positions within the Treasury department.
• Proficiency in prompting AI : You do not need to be a subject matter expert in AI, but you will need to use AI every day to support you in your role.

As a bonus (but not required), you may have:

• Prior exposure to Treasury/liquidity management or balance sheet management topics.
• Coding skills to analyse large data sets more efficiently.
• Experience preparing governance papers / senior stakeholder packs.
• Experience of engaging with regulators.
• A second European language (e.g. French or German).
