Areka Consulting is expanding its Data Solutions team to support upcoming client projects and strengthen its internal data capabilities. In this context, the company is looking for its next Data Engineer | Intern to join the Data Solutions team, composed of 7 people from very diverse backgrounds, whose mission is to make intelligent use of the very rich and massive business travel data Areka has access to in order to solve complex questions. Working alongside the Data & Business Intelligence Engineer, you will contribute both to client deliveries and the evolution of internal tools and data infrastructure, gaining hands-on experience with modern BI and ETL technologies in an international environment.

Your missions:

You will carry out most of your tasks within the Data Solutions team to support the consulting team working for major global clients.

Client deliveries (data consolidation, reporting...) (≈ 75%)

• Prepare, clean, transform, and model data using Excel, Python and SQL
• Produce monthly reports, dashboards and KPIs across ~5 client projects in parallel
• Apply and maintain data quality procedures, both manual and automated
• Ensure consistency and harmonization across multiple data sources
• Communicate results and insights to internal stakeholders and international clients

Data infrastructure optimization & R&D (≈ 25%)

• Support the improvement and evolution of existing ETL pipelines
• Assist in maintaining the data infrastructure
• Contribute to the development of new Data & BI tools using technologies like Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks...
• Participate in R&D initiatives, including the creation of new data products (e.g. carbon emissions calculation, new datasets)
• Write and update documentation for data procedures and processes

Candidate profile:

• Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Engineering, Data, Mathematics, Statistics, or Computer Science
• Excellent proficiency in Excel and Python (Pandas, Seaborn...)
• Ideally, good knowledge of SQL (joins, aggregations)
• Familiarity with at least one BI tool: Power BI, Spotfire, Tableau, QlikView, etc.
• Familiarity with at least one ETL tool: Azure Data Factory, Google Cloud Dataflow, Informatica, Alteryx, Talend, SSIS, etc.
• Excellent level of spoken and written English (French is a plus)
• Curious, proactive, analytical, and eager to learn
• Enjoy working with data and taking initiative in a fast-paced environment
